It is an exciting time for Michigan as its imminent legalization of online casino gaming and online sports betting is set to make the Wolverine State one of only a handful of states allowing all forms of online gambling.
Hopes of bringing online casino and sports betting to Michigan before the New Year has become almost impossible after the Michigan Gaming Control Board had to cancel its December meeting. This will delay the review and approval of licenses for online gambling and online poker apps.
Michigan online poker is now expected to launch in 2021. However, this may happen after online sports and casino. An MGCB spokeswoman noted that they don’t know “whether poker will be among the games included at initial launch.” It is a huge task to launch both sports and online casinos at the same time, let alone poker. With online sports and casino projected to launch in January 2021, Michigan online poker should follow fairly quickly afterwards.
