August is fast approaching and Atlantic City is packed with things to do in the sunshine. In August, ‘Atlantic City Airshow – Thunder Over the Boardwalk 2023’ will be taking to the skies.
This impressive show has been running now since 2003. In fact, the 2003 Airshow took place in celebration of 100 years of powered flight.
Ever since, spectators have gathered in large numbers to watch the show each year. From the Tropicana at one end of the boardwalk, to Ocean at the other. In fact, a reported 500,000 people gather for the Airshow every year.
We’re here to let you into a few secrets ahead of 2023’s Atlantic City Airshow, from the best spots to view the action to the desired parking locations.
The Airshow takes place on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. Currently, there is no start time. However, it is worth noting that the show normally lasts four to five hours. There is also a practice day on Tuesday, August 15.
The show goes by another name, ‘Thunder over the Boardwalk‘. So, the aircrafts fly above the Atlantic City boardwalk as the name suggests.
But the ‘official’ location is the Jersey Shore. With that location comes numerous prime viewing spots. Keep reading to find out about some of the best viewing locations for the Airshow this year.
In addition to classic spots like the beach, from a hotel, on a boat, or while on AC’s famous Steel Pier Ferris Wheel, here are four premium VIP viewing areas that will guarantee a good time.
At Flightline Club you will be located on a private part of the beach, right next to the flying area. There is a shaded tent section for those who wish to spend their day there, with plenty of food and drink options inside. The Airshow’s announcer can also be heard here.
However, this viewing spot will cost you. We expect tickets to be priced at $75.
Head down to Bally’s Atlantic City Beach Bar for the Airshow and your ticket will get you a BBQ for lunch, entertainment before, during and after the show, and two summer cocktails or drinks of your choice.

Yes, the Boardwalk Hall is indoors. But you actually have an incredible view of the Airshow from the private outdoor balcony which overlooks the AC boardwalk. That’s what makes it an impressive viewing location for the show.
Your ticket to the VIP Watch Party at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall includes lunch, bottled water and Coca-Cola products if you fancy them. A great day out for sure – valued at an estimated $135 per ticket.
Finally on the list, it’s the Airshow Viewing Event at the Claridge, on the roof. The Vue Rooftop Bar gives its guests a panoramic view of Atlantic City and beyond. Absolutely perfect for the 2022 Atlantic City Airshow.
