Here are the 13 best restaurants in Atlantic City on the boardwalk and in the casinos based on our survey of Atlantic City visitors in April 2021.

Alongside the numerous casinos and entertainment venues that make Atlantic City America’s original beach playground, there is an incredible mix of restaurants and eateries to experience while you’re there. Whether it’s seafood, authentic American or Asian cuisine, there is something for everyone when it comes to Atlantic City restaurants.

At newamericancasinos.com, we have surveyed more than 70 Atlantic City visitors this month (April 2021) to determine which are the best restaurants in Atlantic City. Whether it is Atlantic City boardwalk restaurants or Atlantic City casino restaurants, we have been open to the public’s opinions on each venue.

We provided the visitors involved in the survey with a shortlist of 30 Atlantic City restaurants to rate based on the quality of food, value for money and atmosphere. Here are the 13 best Atlantic City restaurants based on the results.

13. Tennessee Avenue Beer Hall

Just steps from the famous Atlantic City boardwalk and beach, Tennessee Avenue Beer Hall offers American-style dining with both an indoor and outdoor restaurant area. Tennessee Avenue Beer Hall prides itself on a huge range of craft beers available to its customers.

All beers are hand selected by South Jersey food critic and radio personality Scott Cronick. There are more than 40 craft beers on draft and over 60 beers in bottles and cans. Even with a focus on craft beers, this venue is a great family friendly location to eat in Atlantic City. One of our surveyed visitors said Tennessee Avenue Beer Hall is “the best place for craft beers and hot pretzel”.

12. Kuro at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

Kuro is Hard Rock’s new style Japanese restaurant, featuring contemporary artisanal dishes using locally sourced and imported ingredients directly from Japan. Located at 1000 Boardwalk, the restaurant was opened in Hard Rock’s Atlantic City New Jersey property after huge success at the Seminole Hard Rock in Florida.

The menu items boast bold and complex flavors that are balanced and harmonious and designed with sharing in mind. Whether it is sushi, tempura or wagyu beef you’re after, Kuro has it all. This Atlantic City restaurant even has a sushi school where visitors can book to come and learn how to make the perfect sushi.

11. Pic-A-Lilli Pub

Opened in 1992, Pic-A-Lilli Pub is branded by many as home to “the best wings in Atlantic City”. The best bit is that there’s nothing fancy about Pic-A-Lilli – it is simply a casual 24-hour sports bar & grill serving up American favorites to its customers.

With eight flat-screen televisions and a relaxed, fun-loving atmosphere, Pic-A-Lilli is a go-to watering hole for lovers of the NFL during Football season. You will always find Steelers fans in Pic-A-Lilli on game day, but all fans are welcome to fuel that insatiable game-day camaraderie.

Family-owned and operated Atlantic City Bar & Grill opened more than 25 years ago and has become a city institution. On Pacific Avenue, this eatery has become a popular destination for celebrities, tourists and locals.

Atlantic City Bar & Grill has it all – sports, seafood, steaks and spirits. The venue has always been committed to serving fresh and delicious food and keeping customers satisfied, which is ultimately what keeps everyone coming back for more.

9. Chart House at Golden Nugget

Located in Golden Nugget Atlantic City, Chart House has been described as the “go-to place for seafood in Atlantic City” by one of our survey participants. Expect seafood with a twist at this as you dine with a waterfront view overlooking the marina.

Chart House certainly offers a higher quality of dining compared to the majority of Atlantic City restaurants. Its prime location means that you can try it out when visiting Golden Nugget Casino.

8. Carmine’s Italian Restaurant at Tropicana Hotel & Casino

Carmine’s Italian Restaurant in Atlantic City is located at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino in The Quarter, the city’s largest entertainment and shopping area. The restaurant is just one block away from New Jersey‘s famous boardwalk and is a great eatery for families and friends to experience authentic Italian cuisine.

The atmosphere at Carmine’s is often complemented, with hearty portions of Italian favorites making for a great value-for-money dining option in Atlantic City.

7. Gilchrist at Tropicana Hotel & Casino

Gilchrist has been a big name in Atlantic City since 1946. As one of our survey respondents claimed, it’s “the best place to visit for a breakfast that hits the spot”. Gilchrist is only open for breakfast and lunch but they certainly make up for this with their signature blueberry hotcakes and outstanding comfort food.

On a sunny day, visitors can take advantage of the views of back bay and the marina on Gilchrist’s scenic patio. Who could say no to these famous blueberry pancakes?

6. Cafe 2825 at Tropicana Hotel & Casino

If you’re looking for a Brooklyn-style Italian restaurant in Atlantic City, Cafe 2825 is your answer. Cafe 2825 has been around since 1986, but it remains relatively secret to the majority of Atlantic City visitors. With just fourteen tables available in the restaurant, it is an intimate yet relaxed atmosphere at Cafe 2825.

Cafe 2825 is another restaurant located at Tropicana Hotel & Casino, giving casino goers the chance to try some Brooklyn-style Italian cuisine just steps away from the tables.

5. Olón at Tropicana Hotel & Casino

Olón is a family-owned restaurant that features modern takes on family recipes of Chef Garces on its menu, in addition to unique twists on time-honored favorites. You could class Olón as a vibrant Latin seafood restaurant, but it really does have so much more to offer.

When nice weather comes, Olón provides a terrific atmosphere for its customers with a spacious deck that overlooks the beach. Menu options include surf and turf, empanadas, crab cakes, anticuchos and much more.

4. Knife and Fork Inn

First opened in 1912, the Knife and Fork Inn is one of the oldest Atlantic City dining locations. The restaurant, at 3600 Atlantic Avenue, has become an Atlantic City landmark and specializes in seafood, steaks and wine options. Everyone who has been to Knife and Fork Inn, including those we surveyed, rave about the food available.

What makes Knife and Fork Inn so interesting is its story. When it first opened in 1912, it was a private club. In 1927, the establishment opened its doors to more people as it became an exclusive dining room. Over the years, the restaurant has evolved into what it is today – and people love it!

3. Chef Vola’s

Chef Vola’s cannot be described as anything other than an incredibly unique experience. This restaurant was founded way back in 1921, but it still remains a very secretive dining location. If you plan to eat at Chef Vola’s, there are some rules. Firstly, it is cash-only. Secondly, it’s BYOB. Finally, there is no real website, email, or listed phone number.

The mystery surrounding Chef Vola’s adds to the overall experience, atmosphere and excitement ahead of a visit…if you can get a booking that is. Reservations often run three months out on the weekends, but if you can get a table then you better be ready for some tasty classics like one-in veal chop Parmesan and banana cream pie.

A visit to Chef Vola’s is well-sought after. This Atlantic City restaurant even featured on Boardwalk Empire.

2. Angelo’s Fairmount Tavern

Often dubbed one of the best restaurants in Atlantic City, Angelo’s Fairmount Tavern is an Italian American restaurant that has been part of the Atlantic City dining scene since 1935. It is located in the Ducktown section of Atlantic City, at 2300 Fairmount Avenue.

The Angelo’s Fairmount Tavern menu is full of hearty, Italian-style classics such as antipasta, meatballs, steak and loads of seafood options. This Atlantic City has been rated highly surveys for its meal options, value for money and atmosphere. It really is a great experience visiting Angelo’s.

1. Dock’s Oyster House

Coming in at number 1 is Dock’s Oyster House. Harry “call me Dock” Dougherty opened Dock’s doors way back in 1897 with a desire to serve the finest seafood in Atlantic City in a friendly, comfortable, and clean atmosphere. The Oyster House has been sustained by four generations of the Dougherty family and continues to be the go-to seafood joint in the whole of Atlantic City.

Dock’s closed in 2015 for a multi-million dollar renovation, but thankfully once they reopened in 2016 the tradition and authenticity of this venue hadn’t been lost. Whether it’s popular seafood options or the well-renowned Oyster Bar you’re after, Dock’s has everything. If you can, get to Dock’s Oyster House right when they open at 4pm to enjoy your favorite seafood dishes before the restaurant fills up with visitors.
