MGM National Harbor Casino is preparing to open its state-of-the-art sports betting lounge in preparation for the launch of Maryland sports betting.
Maryland is preparing for its official launch of sports betting later this year, and gambling destinations in the state are already making the steps required to welcome it.
MGM National Harbor, one of the most popular casinos in Maryland, are adding a sports betting lounge to the establishment.
The sports betting lounge will be open to visitors in October. It will overlook the Potomac River near Washington and will add another element of excitement to an already popular MGM casino location.
“The demand for sports betting continues to grow, and we look forward to offering this option to our guests in the near future,” said Chris Gumiela, vice president of BetMGM Marketing for MGM Resorts International.
As sports betting is yet to arrive in the Old Line State, the sports betting lounge will initially only be available for food and beverage purchases.
However, the MGM brand has submitted its formal application to be a legal sportsbook vendor in Maryland for both in-person and online sports wagering. As MGM is such a huge gaming brand in the United States, there will be no issues with obtaining a license once sports betting is given the green light.
MGM National Harbor’s new 8,000-square-foot sportsbook boasts a 360-degree halo screen for its visitors to watch games in multiple areas of the lounge. The lounge has a 350-person capacity, 17 betting kiosks and 7 betting windows.
Once sports betting in Maryland is given the official go-ahead by the relevant bodies, National Harbor visitors will be able to enjoy all of the perks associated with the exciting new sportsbook.
