Gambling in America
America has a long history of Casino gambling, with Las Vegas having been known as the number one worldwide destination for Casino players since Nevada legalized betting in 1931. Since then there have been a number of states which have allowed Casino gambling in some form, and now in total there are 23 states which have legalized some type of commercial Casinos.
These are: Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Dakota, U.S. Virgin Islands, Washington, and West Virginia.
Things are changing dramatically, however, with the repealing of the 1992 PASPA act , which had previously declared sports betting illegal nationwide, in 2018. The floodgates were opened for all US states to allow gamblers to bet legally on sports and slowly there has been a relaxation of all gambling laws across most US states.
This has come at a huge benefit to not only those within the states who wish to gamble (as they no longer need to fly to Vegas to place a bet) but also to the states themselves, who have seen huge tax revenues and those residents within the states, who have been able to benefit from millions of new jobs created by the legal gambling industry.
Each state is progressing at its own pace in terms of allowing commercial Casinos within the state or online, but there are rapid changes being made and more coming. To find out the current legal status of Casino gambling within your state, click below:

Does my state allow legal online casino gambling?
At NewAmericanCasinos.com we are aiming to help educate and inform online casino gamblers and nothing is more important than knowing the law when it comes to gambling online.
America is an unique country in that the laws vary from state to state and each state has permission, following the repeal of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) in 2018, to make their own lasws when it comes to sports betting or casino gambling online.
There were some early pioneers of legal online gambling, such as New Jersey and neighboring Pennsylvania, and they effectively paved the way for the rest of the country. However, no two states have adopted the same model when it comes to legal online gambling so it’s important to check your own state information page from our guide and make sure you understand everything before jumping in and setting up your online gambling accounts.
When you do, you will want to ensure that you are using a gambling operator which you can trust and which is fully legal and verified. At NewAmericanCasinos we work closely with all of the legal American online casino operators and can guarantee that any Casino Free Bet Offers or Casino Promotion Codes published on our site will only ever be from licensed, legal casinos.
Once again, it is important to ensure that you check your own state’s home page or offers page as some casinos which are available in some states are not available in others. A brand like BetMGM or DraftKings will generally be available everywhere but the likes of SugarHouse, which is a former land based casino out of Pennsylvania, or Tropicana, which is the app from the famous Las Vegas and Atlantic City casino, may not be available in all states.
We will always provide this information in our reviews of the online casinos and our mission is to help everyone from every state in America understand how to legally play casino games. We want you to be completely confident and comfortable, and most importantly have fun playing online casino in your own state or while on vacation in another state.
