Montana allows gambling in casinos but currently does not allow online casino wagering.
Montana allows gambling in casinos but currently does not allow online casino wagering. There are seven federally-recognized tribes that own ten casinos in Montana. There are also 4 small Indian gaming businesses on tribal lands and over 100 state-licensed, electronic gaming casinos.
The state has thousands of bars and restaurants with a limited selection of slot machines, as well as tribal casinos and legalised sports betting. However, internet sports wagering and online casino gambling sites remain off limits in Montana.
We hope online casinos and sports gambling with come into play for Montana residents soon. It’s still hard to say however, but Montana has a stronger chance of having legal internet gambling given that they’ve already started down other paths. In May 2019, the state’s governor, Steve Bullock, legalised sports betting, and there are many physical tribal casinos in the region.
There is presently no legal internet gambling, therefore sports betting must still be done locally at retail outlets with betting kiosks and machines. It seems sense that lawmakers might advocate for online sports betting and eventually incorporate casino gambling. Given that Montana is losing out on a significant amount of money by not allowing mobile sports betting.
As mentioned, despite the lack of online casino gambling, Montana does have a number of in-land casinos that residents can play at.

Montana recently approved sports betting in person but as mentioned, online wagering remains illegal. There aren’t any physical Sports books but kiosks and terminals throughout the state.
One of the only states in the US to openly prohibit daily fantasy sports with companies like DraftKings and FanDuel is Montana. That is particularly unusual given that the state does permit legal sports betting. But as of right now, DFS is completely off-limits.
Montana also has a lottery. Scratch cards, Mega Millions, Powerball, Hot Lotto, Wild Card 2, and Montana Cash are a few of the games available. A ticket for the Montana Lottery may be bought by anybody who is at least 18 years old. Tickets may only be bought from authorised Montana Lottery shops. No tickets are sold online.
